FromSoftware, the renowned developer behind the Dark Souls series, is bringing a fresh perspective to the mech combat genre with their latest title, Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon.
This game, which was recently showcased at Summer Game Fest, aims to deliver a sense of accomplishment by challenging players to overcome seemingly insurmountable odds.
What about my opinion? Short answer: YES, this is worth it.
Here’s why:
A Deep Dive into Mech Customization
Armored Core 6 offers an extensive customization system that allows players to modify their mech’s components, including weapons, armor, and energy usage.
The game’s energy system is a crucial aspect of mech customization, as it determines the mech’s agility and the power of its weapons. Players must carefully balance their mech’s weight and energy usage to optimize their combat effectiveness.
And on top of that, Armored Core 6 offers a unique feature called Custom Build Sharing which ultimately gives newbies a chance to fight against top players.
A Dynamic Combat Experience
The combat in Armored Core 6 is a deadly dance of bullets, lasers, and missiles. Players can equip their mech with up to four weapons, each mapped to a different button.
The game also features a stagger mechanic, similar to the posture break in Sekiro, which allows players to deal significant damage to enemies if they can fill a bar quickly enough.
Furthermore, the game is expected to have its very own multiplayer combat experience, which I think would look like a mecha battle royale with metal debris flying all over the place. Pretty sick, right?
Epic Boss Fights
Armored Core 6 shines brightest during its boss fights. These encounters require strategic thinking and precise execution, as players must exploit their enemy’s weaknesses while avoiding incoming fire.
The game’s forgiving checkpoint system and the ability to swap out builds before a boss fight adds an extra layer of strategy to these epic showdowns.
A Newcomer’s Perspective
As a newcomer to the Armored Core franchise, I found that Armored Core 6 offers a unique and engaging experience that is distinct from FromSoftware’s other titles.
The game’s deep customization system, dynamic combat, and epic boss fights make it a compelling addition to the mech combat genre.
Expect the game’s release on the 25th of August, folks!
