A Way Out
Well, if we are talking about a game from Hazelight, why not talk about the one that put them in the spotlight? It Takes Two might have been their calling card moment, but A Way Out was Hazelight’s announcement to the world.
Although the story of Leo and Vincent is not one proclaiming great conscience. In many ways, both men were the same; looking for some meaning in their lives, one last chance at a normal life, reconnecting with their loved ones and completing that one objective that would give them their way out.
If you are going to play one game on this list, we would recommend A Way Out. That puts it above some really heavy hitters, but the recommendation is just the same.

Brothers: A Tale Of Two Sons
A proof of concept, Brothers is another heavy-hitting tale that takes us back to the glory days of indie stories such as Little Nightmares and Limbo. Just like It Takes Two, the game takes two perspectives and tries to show you a little bit of both.
And although more games have attempted to show the disparity in relationships between siblings (Life Is Strange, Infamous Second Son, A Plague Tale), Brothers puts a fresh spin on it.
This is also proof of Starbreeze Studios’ pedigree, to put themselves back on the map with such flair and so many awards. Another must-try if you are into stories that might have you shed a tear or two.

Gotham Knights
Ah, is this the one that gets us canceled? Jokes aside, even with the legion of bugs, glitches, stutters and an entire technical collapse, Gotham Knights manages to paint a picture of a Batman-less Gotham.
With a very visible change of the guard, and the focus on a bigger, more branched and expansive storyline, more characters, easter eggs and everything else that made the Rocksteady series a success, Gotham Knights aimed to capture the same lighting in a bottle for the other kids in the Bat Family.
Whether that worked or not, we’ll let you be the judge. But as things stand, this is the only way to get a Court of Owls storyline and characters in a major Batman-themed game release.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge
The Turtles are responsible for some of the best couch co-op experiences that money could buy back in the days of the old SNES. But in recent times, we are yet to see a really action-packed co-op adventure that features some of the most iconic animals in pop culture history.
That is, if you choose to make the mistake of discounting Shredder’s Revenge. Announced out of seemingly nowhere, the 2D action side-scroller beat-em-up harkened back to the good old days, with the same solid gameplay, a new plot and fresh new ideas on the screen.
Whichever way you are inclined, we assure you that Shredder’s Revenge is an experience that must not be missed.

Although it seems like everybody has forgotten that one of the greatest joys of the Borderlands series was the ability to play co-op games in split-screen with your friends, Tiny Tina has brought it back, and in some style.
The game is based on the yarn that a young mind spins. This births all kinds of different monsters and other spectacular occurrences, ensuring that you never run out of fun to be had in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, provided you and your partner can invest in the world, story and characters.
An insane looter-shooter both in terms of style and substance, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is available across all platforms for some great times.

Army Of Two
Anyone remember the late-2000s and the bevy of oddball games that were greenlit before everything became formulaic? If you don’t, let us remind you of one such effort, Army of Two.
As dramatic and explosive as a Michael Bay movie, the game was one of the best couch co-op experiences since they were a dying breed then. Despite the sequel’s shortcomings, The Devil’s Cartel, Army of Two remains a delightful surprise in the world of co-op shooters.

Cuphead
When Cuphead first hit the scene, word started spreading quickly on the old-Disney art style and the brutal difficulty in this side-scrolling bullet hell of a game. All of those rumors turned out to be true. But that shouldn’t stop you from playing Cuphead.
A fresh breath of air in a year that was chock full of fresh breaths, Cuphead managed to stand out with its slick presentation, surprisingly dark story about the Devil and his deals, and some best-in-class platforming to boot.
A reminder to be careful of what you invest into, Cuphead will put you, your partner and your partnership to the test, because the challenge is real. And man, does it ever get more real than this. But hey, don’t let us deter you.
As Dusk Falls
The least mechanically intensive game on our list, and our final inclusion, As Dusk Falls, is still as riveting as simple.
An interactive drama in the same vein as Supermassive Games’ other offering games like Until Dawn and Man of Medan, As Dusk Falls veers away from both the subject and the tonality of those games, focusing instead on real hard-hitting stories involving real people.
A captivating emotional ride through the deepest trenches of suffering and the highest mountains of joy, As Dusk Falls forces you to relook at life and the meaning behind everything that we do.
