In the same interview in which Toriyama explains the linearity of Final Fantasy XIII, he also mentioned the lack of towns was due to the fact that in producing HD quality graphics it would take far too much time for the developers to create.

Alongside such comments, Yoshinori Kitase also explains that such a problem relates to being unable to currently consider the continual requests for a Final Fantasy 7 remake.

He explains, “This issue is related to whether a Final Fantasy 7 remake will happen or not. It is very hard to make games on PlayStation 3 in the same style as the games in that era had. Making graphics will take enormous time.”

Thay had over 4 years for ff13 yet they couldnt fit in towns. there has been at least half a dozen devs to do it on ps3 and 360 in far less time. look at Mass effect, mass effect 2, Fable, fable 2 and fable 3 which has been in development for about 2 years and is being released this year. this is just a half assed excuss for crappy developers.

This is a pathetic excuse to use. They're basically saying “It's absolutely possible, however it would mean a lot of work and we don't really feel like it.”. Good PR there, Squeenix. You're going to give the fans exactly what they want…….just as long as it's not too much work, right?

It would be a lot more smarter if they all work together go on the project completely to finished the installment final fantasy 13 and versus 13 by this summer of 2010 what if that really happen then things will speed up.

Its all about the money really, we are just another source of income now it seems. stretching FF’s out this far and not keeping the caliber it had with earlier editions, screams profit. Im certain the amount of fans there are should make up the money invested into a FF7 remake. I mean, lets look at FF:advent children Dvd. I chose to buy that than watch a buddies copy, or DL it from some torrent site. i ONLY did it because i was truly happy they decided to do SOMETHING with the FF7 franchise. BUt with FF13 looking as bad as its reviews are leading us to beleive, just feels like developers are looking for franchise profit, quick development-and thats it. When has FF series been above a 9.0 rating? FF8 was pretty much teh last of that grade. Square/Enix needs to wake up and give the fanbase what they want. Its called DEMAND and we HAVE been demanding. Instead, they are just losing fanbase loyalty and respect. Im pretty sure no one is going to give a crap about FF14…..
