Last night at Sony’s CES Keynote, Kaz Hirai revealed that during December Sony had shipped 3.8 million Playstation 3’s – which is an incredibly impressive figure. This is a 76% increase compared to the previous year, which results in the most successful holiday season that the Playstation 3 has seen. This was made possible with great titles that the Playstation 3 received during 2009, and with the new Playstation 3 Slim being released. With titles such as Uncharted 2 and Final Fantasy XIII it’s easy to understand why the sales have increased.

2010 is also set to be a big year for Sony with their upcoming first-party titles;
- Gran Turismo 5
- God of War 3
- MAG
- Heavy Rain

With titles like these, we expect the sales to continue to rise. Also, we will see the Motion Controller Sony showed at E3 last year which should be very good. The main theme from Sony at CES Keynote last night was its adapting of 3D, as they will be releasing firmware updates to the Playstation 3 so existing users can join in on the 3D experience – if you have a 3D TV to support it that is!
