New MAG Beta, Plus MAG Goes Gold

Today Jeremy Dunham, Community Manager of Zipper Interactive, has announced on the US Playstation Blog that MAG has gone gold. The Playstation 3 exclusive is set to hit stores for North America on the January 26th, and whilst a date has been set for them, the European discs are still having the final touches made to the game within quality assurance. Although Zipper Interactive expect to see the European edition go gold in the next few weeks.

Jeremy then gave readers a nice surprise! An open beta will be hitting the Playstation Store for January 4th, and Playstation 3 owners from North America can start downloading the MAG beta client from December 22nd. However European Playstation 3 owners will have to wait until January 4th. The MAG open beta will end on January 10th, and here are some instructions on how to get the beta up and running:

Log on to the PlayStation Store (tomorrow) and download the MAG Beta file like you would any other freely-available PSN video or demo (298 MB)

Launch the MAG Beta program from your XMB to download a special patch that will restart MAG once the update has been received (another 38 MB)

After the reboot, the beta will reconnect and download the actual game data so that you can play (1.8 GB – 2.3 GB depending on your region)
