You will once again be able to explore vast worlds, battle a broad variety of enemies, and solve the usual puzzles that Link often comes across in his quests. Yet now, for the first time, Link must utilise the magical power of the Spirit Pipes to alter the world around him.

Players will be tasked with selecting the right pitches with the stylus and touch screen, before blowing into the Nintendo DS’ microphone to play each note on the Spirit Pipes, each creating one of a selection of numerous mystical melodies that you have learnt on your journey. A handy metronome will help keep you on track, as even the rhythms may prove a challenge.

The Spirit Pipes themselves are a woodwind instrument, and will play an essential role within the upcoming title. Through correctly playing melodies you will be able to conjure various different effects. As an early example, towards the start of the game you will have to search for one of the land’s guardians, called Lokomos, who will teach you a song that will restore the tracks to a temple you need to visit next. Each land will have it’s own song so it’s necessary to learn each of them in turn.
