Zelda to receive prominent role in TLoZ: Spirit Tracks

Nintendo have unveiled that for the first time within the history of the Legend of Zelda series that next title, The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, will see the first time that Princess Zelda will assist Link throughout his quest to defeat the evil dwelling once again in the infamous lands of Hyrule.

As can be seen within the newly released trailer below, shown courtesy of our friends at Gametrailers.com, Zelda within her spirit form will be able to possess Phantom creatures seen within the previous DS title, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. Once possessed, these will then be used to bypass obstacles to allow Zelda to aid Link in solving puzzles, and discovering hidden secrets. Zelda will also ride along side Link on his customisable train to guide players who are having difficulty reaching new areas.

For the eagle eyed amongst you, two new weapons are also featured within the trailer below – a Snake-headed whip that we see Link use to traverse a hole in the dungeon, rather than his usual grappling hook, and a new leaf based weapon that causes whirlwinds.

The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks is set to launch exclusively for Nintendo DS/ DSi on December 7th in North America, with a European release on December 11th.
