Capcom have today announced that it is to continue to expand it’s successful revival of the Street Fighter franchise, through the release of ‘Super Street Fighter IV.’ This new expanded title is set to build upon its predecessor, through the inclusion of even more playable characters, improved online features and a further rebalance for the characters.
It is confirmed that this release will be only available on disc, so don’t be expecting this to be available as downloadable content for the previous Street Fighter IV edition as it became apparent that the original Street Fighter IV’s game code isn’t able to support the features that are being added. Whilst some may find it annoying to have to purchase another version, Capcom have stated that the title won’t sell at a similar price to a full game, and will also offer current SFIV owners with a bonus, if they purchase the new edition alongside the one they currently own.
So, down to the details. The original titles number of 25 characters is set to be increased through the introduction of eight new playable characters – two of which have been revealed, T. Hawk and Juri. Whilst eight new characters have planned, this could change during development and due to fan feedback… so keep your eyes out for further information.
It’s due out in 2010, for both Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
