With the confirmation that Battlefield 1943 releases next week on both Xbox live arcade and a day later on PlayStation Network, Electronic Arts have released the launch trailer and very nice it looks too. We posted earlier in the week that an EA newsletter mentioned that the game would release on July 9th and this now has been confimed as correct with the Xbox live arcade version hitting on the 8th. As far as we are aware the Coral Sea challenge will not begin until the 9th though and this will allow gamers from both platforms to compete in the community challenge and race to see which console can unlock the 4th map first.

The Coral Sea challenge will also unlock another game mode called Air Superiority in which players can compete in the ultimate dogfight over the pacific islands. Battlefield 1943 will be priced at an extremely reasonable price of £9.99 in the UK or 1200 Microsoft Points.

“Battlefield 1943 is going to change consumer expectations of what a downloadable game can be. By offering Frostbite’s next generation destruction technology with a full Vehicle Warfare FPS multiplayer experience at a mere 560MB, Battlefield 1943 sets a new standard,” said Gordon Van Dyke, Producer on Battlefield 1943. “Our goal is to blow people away with a fully accessible, retail-calibre game for veteran Battlefield fans and shooter fans alike to enjoy for only £9.99.”

So take a look at the launch trailer and stand by for online action.
