Updated Playstation Cards Arrive

Its been a little while coming but the official PSN Portable ID cards have gone live today and I headed straight over to the Playstation website to take a look at what my profile looked like, as you can see above all my trophies are in there now along with the existing information from the original card.

The games that can be selected as a favourite game are still limited as are the pictures that can be added. It has taken a long time for Sony to get on the Gamercard bandwagon and now that the card is complete I have to say it does look a lot better than its Microsoft counterpart. One part of the card still leaves me bewildered and that is the mood setting.  I cannot really see Playstation gamers constantly going online and changing their mood setting to reflect how they feel and unless Sony have another use for this such as linking it in with Home in some way then it really is a waste of space on the card. Another annoying feature is the advert at the bottom of the card to allow other users to go and get their own portable ID, I hope Sony are only using this as a short term advert to launch the card to the masses and eventually it will disappear.

All in all its about time this happened for Playstation users and to give them parity with Microsoft, now its tine to go a stage furtherand come up with something innovative that surpasses the competition.

Will be redundant when the PS3 fails…hehe…seriously though I hate the ‘Trophy’ idea – it shows Sony has a lack of original thought in this area.

I would have to agree, Sony are playing catch up with Microsoft in this area but they are only giving the customers what they are shouting for. As for redundant PS 3’s I cant see it, the long haul is what Sony have always been about.
